General Questions

How does ChartBuilder work?

ChartBuilder allows you to create a series of saved definitions for charts that can be rendered against live data at any time.  This gives you the flexibility to reuse your chart definitions for many distinct dashboard pages. All you need to do is open the provided chart.php file with the chart GUID assigned by ChartBuilder as an iframe in your own pages. ChartBuilder leverages the Google Visualization API, queries your MySQL database, and transforms the data into the required JSON format. At no time is data sent outside of your site to render the charts.

Which versions of PHP are supported?

ChartBuilder is fully tested and compatible with PHP 5.3.0 and higher.

What kind of support can I expect if I buy ChartBuilder?

We stand by our products through ongoing investment, and excellent customer support. We offer email technical support to help you work through integrating ChartBuilder into an existing web project, or configuring advanced features to work just the way you need them. We can't fix your database design, and we only offer support related to how your application works with ChartBuilder.  We are based in North America, which means our responses to your inquiries may be slightly delayed if you are on another continent.

Does OpenGate offer consulting?

Not currently for PHP projects.  ChartBuilder is easy enough that you won't need consulting to get up and running.

Do I need to know PHP or SQL to use ChartBuilder?

Definitely not, we designed ChartBuilder to be used by people that aren’t PHP experts. ChartBuilder is easy enough for a new PHP or MySQL user to learn in minutes, and powerful enough to help even the most experienced PHP gurus.

What types of charts do you support?

ChartBuilder provides fifteen chart types, with more coming in the next several months.  Presently ChartBuilder supports line, pie, donut, scatter, column (side-by-side, stacked, and combo), bar (side-by-side and stacked), geo, gauge, organization, histogram, and area charts.

Demo Questions

Why can't I trial the product on my own server?

Presently we do not have an effective way to allow you to test the product without delivering the full source code.  As long as you have PHP 5.3+ and MySQL, you'll have no issues.  And we always honor our 30-day risk free guarantee.  If the product doesn't work for you, delete it and get a full refund from us.
